The Korean government manages the forests by way of launching projects of thinning, planting, and establishing infrastructures, such as forest roads, for the management of forest, while protecting forest resources from the fire. Five major projects - planting, thinning, forest road construction, forest soil conservation, forest fire prevention- occupying 80% of total forest project budget, were monitored. In order to acquire unbiased results, 16 specialized experts and 4 project related government officials were included for this research project. The results of this project showed that:1) after planting, 5 to 7 years of maintaining planted areas are required in order for successful establishments2) for the thinning, electronic design systems should be established for tracing the completion of the projects3) user's manual for designing forest road and related facilities should be established4) integrated forest fire suppression systems should be established for the efficient forest fire suppression.Researcher : Seok Hyun-Deok, Shon Cheol-Ho, Chang Cheol-Su, Lee Sang-Min and Min Kyung-TaekE-mail address : hdseok@krei.re.kr
