우병준 이형우 채상현 2018-11-15T08:21:33Z 2018-11-15T08:21:33Z 2008-11 R581 http://repository.krei.re.kr/handle/2018.oak/15349 국민소득이 높아지면서 농산업 분야에서 상대적으로 소득탄력성이 높은 축산업은 빠르게 성장해왔다. 그 결과 농림업생산액에서 축산 분야가 차지하는 비중은 전체 생산액의 30% 이상을 차지하고 있으며, 소·돼지·닭과 같이 축산업에 차지하는 비중이 높은 주요 축종에 대해 높은 정책관심과 다양한 연구 성과가 있다. 그러나 오랜 시간동안 우리나라 농촌 현장을 지키고 있는 특수가축의 경우 해당 농가 수나 사육두수가 매우 많음에도 불구하고 그동안 구체적으로 연구된 실적이 거의 없다. 최근 들어 빈번한 가축질병 발생 문제와 가축 분뇨에 의한 환경오염 문제, 배합사료가격 상승에 따른 경영비 상승 문제 등은 시장개방으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 축산업에 새로운 도전이 되고 있다. 대표적인 특수가축 축종인 오리, 꿀벌, 산양, 사슴의 경우 상대적으로 환경친화적이고 조사료와 같은 부존자원의 이용이 쉬우며, 인건비 부담도 적어 농가경제에 있어 새로운 대안으로 고려될 수 있다. 또한 이들 생산물은 보양식으로서 오랜 기간 소비되었으며 앞으로도 지속적으로 성장할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 이 보고서는 아직까지 정책당국 및 학계에서 관심을 받지 못하고 소외되어 있는 특수가축의 현황과 앞으로의 발전 방안에 대한 연구 결과를 정리하였다. This Study focuses on duck, honeybee, goat, and deer industries those are less interested in by government and researchers. Such industries are known as “specialized livestock” which means relatively uncommon livestock in the field of agriculture comparing to cattle, hog, and poultry. Although the industries are believed that not so important to consider, in reality, many farms own such livestock and earn considerable income from those products. Since only a few researches were conducted on those industries, this study conducted field surveys and interviews on farmers, producers’ associations, and other related institutes to understand the industries. This study also executed consumer surveys on each industry to confirm how consumers consume and spend their money on the industries. After gathering available information from interviews and surveys, this study implemented SWOT analysis to show how to improve the industries for the future. So called specialized livestock industry has several advantages as an industry as below. First, the industry is well adjusted to Korean climate and geographical conditions. Second, there is a glowing food industry and a chance of introducing new meat products. Third, the industry has its own virtue of requiring less labor, mixed feed, and discharging less excretion comparing to common livestock. This study identified several weak points of the industry such as less systematic industry structure, weak disease control system, a low level of animal improvement, a low political power of producers’ association to realize its own interest, and so on. With all the consideration, this study provides different strategies to each industry for future success. For example, duck industry needs to follow the path of integration to be a leading industry. The honeybee industry has to be prepared to overcome DDA and FTA situation with structural reform, developing new markets, and focusing on food safety. The goat industry needs to take a chance of a growing consumers’ interest to become a part of usual meal. The deer industry has to focus on how to gain a firm foothold with a rationalization of process and distribution channel of its products.
