Increasing livestock products consumption and international trade volumes needs more quarantine capacity. In addition, consumers’ growing demand for higher standard of food safety and inspection requires better service quarantine service than before. National Veterinary Research and Quarantine Service(NVRQS)’s “Young - nam” branch has a hundred year of history with a limited capacity. Yet the branch continuously remodeled its facilities to provide best quarantine services, obsolescence of storages and a waste-disposal system requires quick change for more environment friendly facilities. This study analyzes the validity of relocating NVRQS’s “Young-nam” branch. To do this, the study investigates branch’s overall facilities and handling volumes for a future. Also the study evaluates proposed sites for relocating, and provides basic conception of facilities, calculates total costs, financing source and management. To provide adequate extend for animal quarantine stable, this study estimates future trading volumes and suggests that the newly relocated branch needs capacity of holding 16,000 cows, 3,000 pigs, 88 horses annually. With the estimated quarantine volumes and other facilities, the branch needs about 183,641㎡. This study evaluates total 8 proposed sites for relocation in the view of factors such as geology-environment, quarantine-research, city planning.
