ConclusionsABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is (1) to provide trends and prospectsof floricultural production for farms, (2) to provide the flower farmers withstrategies of management improvement and the government officers with policysupport direction in order to overcome current difficulties.The Koreanfloricultural industry with a high income-elasticity has been growing along withnational income increase. However real floricultural production in 2001 isexpected to decrease due to depressed consumption expectation as a result of therecent economic slowdown. Among this situations, flower exports has increaseddue to rising exchange rates, developing new sales channels due to sluggishdomestic demand.Korea's floricultural exports is primarily targetedto Japan. Meanwhile China's floricultural industry is growing rapidly as theChinese government is fostering the industry. Therefore, china is expected torise as a competitor in the Japanese market.
