Agricultural Policies and Environmental QualityⅣ.Approaches to Integrating Agricultural and Environmental PoliciesⅤ.Concluding RemarksABSTRACTTo better understand policy integration, it is necessary to improve theknowledge of the policy effects, in particular their environmental impacts, andcontinue to develop analytical instruments to assess them. In this paper, several integration instruments such as regulatory approach, economic incentiveapproach, cross-compliance approach and advisory approach are beingexamined. Consistency between farm income support and environmentalobjectives has been enhanced through compliance mechanisms. In practice, agricultural and environmental policy approach is more likely to adopt across-compliance approach, making income support payments contingent upon therecipients' compliance with pre-determined environmentalstandards. | - |
