"Green Tourism" means "stay-type leisure activities which cherish the
importance of learning through various experiences in areas with excellent
natural resources.
" The policy of green tourism in Japan aims to build beautiful rural
villages, to accommodate city dwellers, to establish urban-rural information
networks, and to promote its support system. One of its major implications is
that local governments have initiated development programs and actively
supported them. To develop Korean green tourism needs, we should redefine the
concept including more diverse activities.
The participation of local residents is crucial, and public subsidies should
be expanded in order to assist management. The central government oriented
policy implementation has been problematic. In order to make green tourism
effective in Korea, it must be carried out by local governments. Local
governments can reflect their own regional characteristics with flexibility.
