Recently, the U.S. and EU bilaterally agreed with China about major issues
that should be solved for China's accession to the WTO.
The agreement was a major step toward securing China's entry into the WTO
within the end of 2001.
China's accession to the WTO will affect both chinese and international
agriculture. This paper outlines the recent situations and prospects on China's
acession to the WTO, and the China's bilateral agreement with major trading
partner. Also the paper analyzes the structure of agricultural imports and
export in China, and overviews the effect of China's accession to the WTO on
chinese agriculture, international trade, and Korean agriculture.
Based on the previous findings, the paper draws out policy implications of
China's accession for the Korean agriculture, taking into account the direct and
indirect impacts.
