Abstract
The purposes of this paper are to introduce the rural development policy of U.S.A. and to suggest the policy implications. For these purposes, I first explain the way to define rural area, short history of rural development policy, related organizations and their roles, main policy programs, the composition of budget and characteristics of rural development policy in U.S.A.
And this paper suggests several policy implications. Especially, the spontaneity of residents in establishing rural development plan, the strong partnership among government authorities, agencies and stakeholders, the reasonable reflection of the character of region etc. are emphasized.
