The policies implemented by thegovernment for "soft" landing for the beef sector in the face of theliberalization of beef market in 2001 are evaluated in several selected areas.They include endeavor for both of cutdown of the production cost of the beefcattle and enhancement of beef quality, and effectiveness of incentive paymentsto prevent the number of mature cows from declining. And a set of policies to bepursued in the future for a stable growth of the Korean beef cattle sector aresuggested.
