식품 소비의 불평등 실태 분석

Abstract

본 연구에서는 최근 물가 상승과 같은 식품 소비의 여건 변화가 식품 소비 불평등 수준에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 지니계수 접근법을 활용하였다. 도출한 지니계수를 활용하여 연령 소득별 격차를 살펴보았으며, 회귀분석을 통해 소비자 특성이 불평등도에 미치는 요인을 확인하였다. 분석 결과, 식품 지출액과 조달 주기에서는 뚜렷한 불평등 추세가 없었으나 온라인 및 친환경 식품 구입 빈도에서는 2023년에 불평등도가 소폭 상승했으며, 특히 온라인 구입에서 격차가 크게 나타났다. 전반적으로 식품 지출액의 불평등 수준이 가장 높았고, 20대 및 30대 그리고 저소득층에서 불평등도가 심화되는 경향이 나타났다. 식품 소비 불평등 수준이 소비 유형과 소비자 특성에 따라 상이하게 나타난다는 결과를 통해, 향후 정책 설계에 있어서는 차별화된 접근이 필요함을 시사한다.

This study analyses the impact of recent changes in food consumption conditions, such as rising prices, on the inequality of food consumption. Thus, the Gini-coefficient approach was applied. Using the derived Gini coefficients, disparities by age and income were examined, and regression analysis was conducted to identify consumer characteristics affecting inequality. The results show no distinct inequality trends in food expenditure and procurement cycles; however, inequality in online and eco-friendly food purchases increased slightly in 2023, with the gap particularly larger in online purchases. Overall, food expenditure showed the highest level of inequality, with more pronounced inequality observed among consumers in their 20s and 30s and in low-income groups. These findings suggest that the degree of inequality in food consumption varies by consumption type and consumer characteristics, highlighting the need for differentiated approaches in future policy design.
