구제역 발생이 돈육가격에 미치는 영향 : 사건 연구(Event Study)의 적용

Abstract

본 연구는 구제역 발생이 국내 돈육가격에 미치는 영향을 사건 연구를 통해서 분석하고자 한다. 최근 국내 돈육 가격은 소득의 상승과 국제 돈육 가격 상승 추이에 비교하여 오히려 하락하거나 정체상태를 보이고 있다. 구제역 발생이 국내 돈육 가격에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 구제역 이전까지의 기간을 추정 구간(estimation window)으로, 구제역 발생시점부터 종료시점까지의 기간을 사건 구간(event window)으로 하는 사건 연구(event study)를 적용하였다. 국내 돈육가격은 수입 돈육가격과 장기균형관계를 갖고 있음을 보이고, 이를 기초로 구제역 발생 이후의 국내 돈육가격이 수입가격과의 균형관계에서 이탈하는 현상을 분석하였다. 그 결과 구제역이 발생한 이후의 국내 돈육가격은 이전까지의 균형관계에서 이탈하여 가격을 형성하고 가격이탈이 지속적으로 유의함을 보였다.

This paper considers the hog price impacts of the foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks occurred in 2010. The recent movement of the domestic hog price revealed abnormal price deviations considering the movement of the international hog price and the trend in income. An empirical assessment of abnormal price deviations in the domestic hog price is provided using the event study. The study shows that the domestic hog price was formed far below the equilibrium level based on the long-run relationship between the domestic and international hog prices. The abnormal price deviations were found significant and persistent after the outbreaks of the foot-and-mouth disease.
